BROADLEAF WEEDS

Weed problems in a lawn indicate that the turf has become weakened by improper management practices or damage from pests. Accurate identification of problem weed species and understanding their life cycles are the first steps in developing a turfgrass weed management plan. Proper management practices can eliminate most weed problems. Weeds complete their life cycles in either one growing season (annuals), two growing seasons (biennials), or three or more years (perennials). Turfgrass managers must be able to identify weeds on the basis of the appearance and form of the primary vegetative structures, such as leaves and stems, in order to institute timely and efficient control practices. Our LAWN SERVICE can control Broadleaf weeds in your St. Augustinegrass or Bahiagrass. We recommend a selective pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicide for the control of these weeds in St. Augustinegrass and a systemic herbicide for contol of these weeds in Bahiagrass. We have provided some of the most common Broadleaf weeds found in Florida in St. Augustinegrass and Bahiagrass. You should be able to confirm the identity of weeds in your lawn from the pictures and text below.
